JASON TAME ENJOYS HIS HOLIDAY IN MALTA
Another Spurs fan writes about his visit to our Island and the Spurs Supporters Club in Valletta

Hello,
My name is Jason...you may remember me as we visited your club in Valletta on Sunday 18th June. I have both the old and the new crests on my lower legs.
My partner and I visited Malta for a one week holiday last week. We attended a wedding on Saturday 17th June, where we were advised to visit the Club by Norman Vella and Francis Portelli.
We returned this afternoon and felt we had to write to thank you for the experience we had at your Club. I have been a huge Spurs fan all my life and had intended to visit the official Malta Spurs Supporters Club on previous visits but never got round to it. We managed it this time. We felt we had to email to thank the staff, especially Nenu, his customers and all involved at the Club for such a lovely experience.
I was very impressed with the memorabilia displayed on the walls and how welcome we felt. You are now high on our list of important places to revisit. We are now back in the UK and if there is anything that we can do to help or support the Maltese Supporters Club, just ask.
Thank you again.

Jason Tame.

CORRESPONDENCE
Michael, Katie and James Frost write to our Club
Hi,
Not sure if you can remeber me but I visit your Island most years and always pop in to see Charlie at the club. Unfortunatly last November I had a big operation to remove cancer from my tongue, my friends in Malta phoned me every week to see how I was getting on and of course never stopped asking me to go over.
I promised that as soon as I felt I was on the road to recovery I would come over. That day came during February and of course we had to visit the club and Charlie who looked after me very well indeed. I must say the visit to Malta was a turning point for me and I have not looked back yet although not quite there yet.
Good luck with your celebrations this year and I hope to be over again in August. Kindest Regards Michael, Katie and James Frost

EDITORIAL

This is the editorial that will appear on "The Cockerel" that will be published and distributed to Members of the Tottenham Hotspur Suporters Club Malta in June.

I welcome you to another edition of The Cockerel which will reach you at the end of a great season for Spurs and on the eve of the World Cup finals in Germany.

Spurs’ season could have been better of course. We were so near that Champions League place that it still hurts when I remember that we will not be competing in Europe’s elite competition. But, objectively speaking, I do think it has been a very successful season. We are back in Europe after so many years and if there is one positive to take from the fact that we will be playing in the UEFA Cup instead of the Champions League it is that our young players will go through a smoother learning curve.

Qualifying for Europe is only one of the positives of this season. Players like Michael Dawson, Ledley King and Robbie Keane have signed new contracts with the club and our Reserves side have been crowned Champions. Mansion are our new sponsors with a deal amongst the top ten in the World while the Club has splashed out on Bayer Leverkusen’s Dimitar Berbatov who admitted that he preferred Spurs over Manchester United. Moreover, Paul Robinson, Michael Carrick, Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon have all been picked by Sven Goran Erikkson to join England’s World Cup party in Germany. At the moment of writing Michael Dawson and Jermaine Defoe are on stand by.

The Club is also forging ahead with plans for a new training complex, an artist’s impression of which is on the front cover of this magazine.

As you all know the local club is celebrating its 25th anniversary so we encourage you to visit our premises in Valletta and also join us for the activities we are organizing.

Last April a group of about 27 Members traveled to London for the home game against Manchester United. Although the result was not what one might have wished for, a great time was had by all. A delegation of the Committee also visited Chigwell to present the Player of the Year Award to Edgar Davids. A big thanks go to all the people who made this visit possible, particularly Edward Ciantar from our Club and Martin Jol, Chris Hughton, John Fennelly and David Felstein from Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Hope you enjoy the Summer….and the World Cup finals!
